Overview

The Postgraduate program, MA in Kannada, offered at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), is aligned with the guidelines of NEP-2022. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the history and philosophy of the Kannada language. The program encompasses all genres of Kannada literature, including prose, Poetry, Drama, Folklore, Criticism, Vachanas, and Tatvapada. The courses of study include Ancient, Medieval and Modern Kannada Literature. It also lays emphasis on Etymology, Orthography, classical grammar, and Phonology of the Kannada language. This program provides students with opportunities to explore the research already conducted in various fields of Kannada Literature. This program also makes a sincere attempt to highlight the culture, tradition, customs, heritage, and structures that represent Kannada as a classical language. The program also aims to develop analytical skills, creativity, critical thinking, editing skills, skimming techniques and comprehensive skills.

Graduation in any discipline as specified in the university notification and the candidate must have studied Kannada as a subject during graduation.
